Romania to issue new bonds

Romania plans to launch a new bond issue on the international markets in the first quarter of the year, the proposed value standing at 500 million USD.
According to Finance Minister Mihai Tanasescu the funds thus attracted will cover 50 per cent of the estimated budget deficit for 2003, while the rest will be covered from domestic loans. Tanasescu said the Government would have to decide the type of the issue later this month. The bonds can be denominated in Euro, USD, or can even represent an extension of the previous issue.
